Ben Lamb, PhD Ben holds a Master’s degree in Information Technology from Virginia Tech (Software Development concentration) and a PhD in Sociology from the University of Colorado. His IT career has spanned a variety of professional roles, from his first position as a Help Desk T1 support agent, to IT consulting in cloud and cybersecurity for a Fortune 500 enterprise. He holds over twenty industry certifications from CompTIA, AWS, Oracle, VMWare, and Microsoft. No stranger to VCCS, Ben has previously taught IT and Computer Science courses at Virginia Western Community College in Roanoke. Last year he gave a public CS Scholar Lecture there on the algorithmic foundations of AI/ML and implications for teaching programming. When he’s not in the classroom, or studying for the next certification, Ben enjoys getting outside, e-biking, and playing with his two cats, Freya and Loki.
